The twin cities of Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead, located in the North East
of England, United Kingdom, would be delighted to be considered as the host for
the European Society for Organ Transplantation Congress in 2025 or 2027.
Nestled on the north and south banks of the River Tyne, Newcastle and Gateshead
are united by seven iconic bridges across one of the most beautiful riverscapes in
the world. Newcastle, on the north bank and Gateshead, on the south bank, form a
cosmopolitan, diverse and vibrant congress destination.
Working with the NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau and Newcastle
Gateshead Quays International Conference & Exhibition Centre, along with local and national
partners, we are delighted to submit our formal bid for the 2025 or 2027 European
Society for Organ Transplantation congress.
The North East of England is known as one of the most welcoming, friendly and accessible regions in Great Britain, boasting natural beauty, historical treasures, a vibrant cultural scene and world-class sporting tradition.
We have a diverse, well-established and ambitious health and life science community built upon the innovative research and talent from our universities, our outstanding NHS trusts and a growing and vibrant cluster of life sciences businesses with particular strengths in trials, testing and manufacturing capabilities.
There is local expertise ranging from surgery, post-transplant care, nursing and coordination through a range of basic sciences, the use of artificial intelligence and sophisticated patient-public opinion development. All of these skills, with national and international connections, will be available to help plan and implement what we hope to be the most exciting ESOT programme ever seen.
The thriving transplant community here would relish the opportunity to host colleagues from across the world. Coupled with the warm welcome you will experience from the wider community and the fantastic cultural, historical and leisure opportunities the region has to offer, we can promise attendees a memorable and rewarding time in NewcastleGateshead.
World-leading transplant experts call NewcastleGateshead their home. Our bidding committee comprises of a broad range of expertise from across the transplantation field.
NewcastleGateshead Quays (NGQ) will be the host venue for the ESOT congress, sitting in a central location on the famous banks of the River Tyne, at the very heart of the Gateshead Quays.
The event campus, which will incorporate the brand new International Conference and Exhibition Centre, opening in Summer 2024, will be connected to the existing SAGE Gateshead venue, and located next to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts, providing a range of venues to help accommodate the ESOT congress. The entire campus will play host to ESOT, with most of the conference, exhibition and meeting rooms for ESOT taking place in the NewcastleGateshead Quays International Conference and Exhibition Centre, with the SAGE Gateshead being held for additional breakout sessions.
