The latest meeting was held at Jurys Inn in Gateshead on the 19 – 21 May 2016. Alongside the meeting delegates enjoyed a full social programme where they experienced the sites and entertainment NewcastleGateshead and the surrounding area has to offer.
Social Programme
Delegates explored Victorian England at Beamish Museum on the Friday followed by lunch and a visit to Durham. The group was joined by a local blue badge guide, telling stories of the regions history and heritage.
Friday evening was spent at a spectacular dinner at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, situated on the NewcastleGateshead Quayside and just a stone’s throw from the delegates accommodation.
On Saturday delegates headed to Harry Potters stomping ground, exploring Alnwick Castle (where Harry Potter’s flying lesson took place in the first movie) moving onto Alnwick Gardens afterward where they spent time with the head gardener and his team on a tour before ending the day with a BBQ in the gardens Pavilion.
NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau’s support
NewcastleGateshead supported the conference organiser in finding a venue, accommodation and in putting together a full social programme. The team also went the extra mile, helping to create bespoke gifts for all of the meeting attendees.
Conference Organiser testimonial
Steve Lister, organiser of PVSG, said “As someone not experienced in organising big international conferences, NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau’s support was a godsend. In reality the conference would not have been the success it was without their input.
“I gave them a brief proposal of what I wanted and they were able to come up with candidate venues for accommodation and evening conference dinner. They had all the contacts, prepared a formal information pack but most of all they were always at the end of the phone or email to tweak things as and when needed.
“They arranged appointments for viewing and offered lists of entertainers etc. – nothing was too much trouble even with frequent tweaks and changes.
“They were able to recommend venues for the social programme, necessary contacts for booking hotels, venues, busses, flight issues and even produced a bespoke gift for each delegate, creating a logo and sourcing local produce/gifts specific to NewcastleGateshead.
“It was the personal and the professional input that worked – all delegates went home having had a great experience of the North East!”
