Positive impact and legacy

NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau is here to support you in extending the impact of your conference beyond its main programme.

Event volunteers in NewcastleGateshead

We are trained in impact and legacy management for events and can work with you to identify your impact goals and connect you to local stakeholders to build partnerships that will support long-term, positive impact and legacy in North East England.

Examples of activity include:

Coffee Shop Conferences

The Coffee Shop Conferences concept allows leading speakers from the conference to engage further with the local community – highlighting key features of your industry’s work which can improve their health and wellbeing or understanding of the world. Working with coffee shops close to the main venue, informal discussions will allow the local public to learn from leading specialists in your field. Informal and interactive sessions allow the public to learn and engage in a ‘pop-up’ setting.

Next Generation Summit

Through partnerships with local schools, colleges and universities, a Next Generation Summit is focused on young people starting out in a career in a field, giving them a voice and an opportunity to create a programme that will attract new members and inspire new leaders in their sector. The summit can be led by students and trainees and in Newcastle, can be held within the grounds of Newcastle University or Northumbria University, ideally as a free event for all wishing to attend. Associations can also make travel grants available to support young investigators to attend.

Volunteering opportunities

The people of NewcastleGateshead love hosting events and welcoming visitors. We have an established and experienced volunteering team who ensure conference attendees experience a warm welcome, with reception desks at Newcastle Central Station, Newcastle International Airport and conference venues. Through contributions towards volunteer expenses, you can support this local volunteering opportunity and give a first-class local welcome to delegates at your conference.

Pay It Forward campaign

A Pay It Forward campaign can be a creative way to attract more delegates to a conference, allowing anyone booking attendance at the conference the option to add a £10.00, £20.00 or any other donation to their registration fee – with all proceeds being ringfenced to support attendance by students or other potential delegates who couldn’t afford the registration fees.
