For the first time eight organisations from Newcastle and Gateshead are attending one of the UK’s leading meetings and events trade shows together.
NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau, part of NewcastleGateshead Initiative, is leading a delegation of businesses to London from 25-26 June in a bid to attract conferences, meetings and events to the city and boost the regional visitor economy.
With organisations ranging from hotels to university and cultural venues, the delegation is one of the most diverse the city has gathered for the show. Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and Dakota Hotel Newcastle join the delegation for the first time alongside Crowne Plaza Newcastle, The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, R&B Group, and Venues at Northumbria University.
The region will profile key new developments including new hotels Dakota Newcastle and five-star Gotham Hotel, and venues Freight Island in Eldon Square and Grainger Market to buyers. As well as highlighting the region’s drive towards sustainable and regenerative business events having launched the regional Regenerative Business Events Toolkit last week on behalf of Destination North East England.
Laura Freer, Assistant Director of Visitor Economy, NewcastleGateshead Initiative, said:
“We’re thrilled to be returning to The Meetings Show this year with a strong delegation of our region’s leading venues and suppliers. Business events, meetings and conferences are a vital part of growing our visitor economy as they are often a first touch point for people to discover what the North East of England has to offer. Business travellers tend to spend more in destination than leisure travellers and provide vital mid-week bookings at our hotels and venues.
“New hotels and venues continue to open in the city adding to our diverse offer and we’re looking forward to discussing these exciting new opportunities with buyers at The Meetings Show.”
Delegates can meet the team at The Meetings Show on stand C81 at Excel London from 25-26 June.
