Sage Gateshead won Gold in the Business Tourism category at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2018 Ceremony.
Celebrating excellence across the industry, Sage Gateshead was presented with its award during a ceremony at the Bath Assembly Rooms on 23 April 2018.
Commenting on the award, Sally Balcombe, CEO of VisitBritain and VisitEngland said: “The standard of the hundreds of applications we received this year was extremely high and that’s why Sage Gateshead’s accolade is a testament to their excellent work.
“These awards shine a spotlight on our fantastic tourism industry, with the winners showcasing the quality, innovation and excellence on offer throughout England and I warmly congratulate them on their impressive contribution to the tourism industry.”
Sage Gateshead received their award from Allan Lambert, VisitEngland Advisory Board Member and property TV show presenter Kirstie Allsop.
The judge’s comments included: “The famous Geordie welcome is apparent from all staff and the Sage really is a place that they and the country should be proud of. It is a cultural destination that puts Gateshead, the North East and England firmly on the business tourism map.”
In 2016/17 conferences and events at Sage Gateshead generated £6.7 million of economic impact to the region by attending delegates.
