Tyne to meet at St. James’ Park

Throughout the pandemic the meeting and events team at St. James’ Park has continued to deliver essential NHS training events, adhering to strict restrictions to ensure a safe and covid secure space, for key workers to continue to serve the wider community through testing.

Meetings and Events Manager Jenny McNamee said: “We were really proud to support NHS training earlier this year.  There were very clear guidelines and protocols that had to be put in place to ensure that those attending the training were safe, but at the same time we wanted to make sure we offered our usual warm welcome. We worked closely with the NHS team digitally before the event to make sure we had covered all aspects of their booking.  It was important to us to make the training experience on site seamless.”

Steven Hewitt of the Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust commented: “Without the expert support of the team at St. James’ Park we wouldn’t have been able to respond to the second wave and launch the Lighthouse Testing Lab so quickly in January. The customer service from the team was amazing – they really went the extra mile and were especially kind and caring throughout the process.”

The continued delivery of essential meetings during the pandemic means the team is well prepared for re-opening to the wider public as lockdown eases.

Jenny added: “We’ve worked hard to ensure that the additional safety measures we need to put in place don’t hinder delivery of events on site. As we re-open we’re really looking forward to welcoming our clients back to St. James’ Park and although it will naturally feel a bit different, we will work closely with them to ensure they can return with confidence.”

Paul Szomoru, director of NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau, said: “St. James’ Park is an exceptional business events venue in the heart of our city, and it is fantastic to see the just how quickly the events team have been able to adapt to continue to host safe, successful and vital events for the NHS during such a difficult time. The venue and events team alike are a credit to the NewcastleGateshead business events offer, and we look forward to working side by side to support as they prepare to re-open fully from the 17th May”.
