Event planners can consider incorporating volunteering activities into their events programmes to boost the positive impacts they have on their host destination.

Whilst visiting the region for a conference or event, your delegation could create meaningful impact, as well as gain health and wellbeing benefits for themselves, by providing support to a community or charity initiative within the region.

Consider these community activities as part of your core programme, instead of remaining at the venue for the full programme for other workshops, build some time into your agenda for your delegates to give something back to the local community through volunteering. You should budget for a donation to be made to the community initiative in return for the volunteering activity.

Make sure you consider the period of notice that many organisations will need to plan a volunteering opportunity for your delegation. Also bear in mind there will be a cost associated for them to offer this, as well a limit on numbers.

Organisations who may offer volunteering opportunities for your delegates:

If you represent a local charity or community initiative in the North East and would like to partner with events to offer paid volunteering opportunities to delegates attending events in the region, get in touch via our sustainable suppliers form.
