The British Educational Research Association (BERA) annual conference is the largest of its kind in the UK. The annual conference brings together educational researchers, practitioners and enthusiasts from across the UK and internationally to present new research, debate key issues and network with one another to further develop their research interests.
BERA is a member-led charity that exists to encourage educational research and its application for the improvement of practice and public benefit. BERA has expanded into an internationally renowned association with UK and non-UK based members.

Why did you choose to bring your conference to NewcastleGateshead?
We are always looking to take our conferences to different places across the country and had not been to the North East before. As Newcastle is one of the largest cities in the area and a great destination, we decided it was a fitting host for our annual conference.
How do you feel you benefitted from bringing the event to NewcastleGateshead?
We were able to reach some of our members who would not typically come to our annual conference because of the location. It was a beautiful venue and the external locations were close enough that delegates had the time to see more than just a hotel or conference centre.
How do you feel your delegates benefitted from the event being hosted in NewcastleGateshead?
They really enjoyed the relaxed vibe of the city and the friendliness of the local people. We were there at the same time as the Great North Run, a huge event which showcases the city, which was a bonus!
