Venues and suppliers rally together to spotlight the North East at The Meetings Show

NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau, part of NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI), is leading a delegation of leading regional venues, hotels and suppliers to London this June for The Meetings Show.

The Meetings Show is the UK’s leading exhibition for the meetings and incentive travel sector that brings together thousands of global event suppliers and event planners for two days to showcase products and services and to build connections.

This year, the convention bureau will be joined by Crowne Plaza Newcastle, The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, The Sage ICC, Northumbria University Venues, Hilton Newcastle Gateshead and R&B Group.

The delegation comes together with a shared passion for the region and ambition to boost the number of conferences and business events that Newcastle and Gateshead hosts. With world-class venues, accommodation, unique visitor experiences and a strong pipeline of new developments, including The Sage International Conference Centre (The Sage ICC), a 118-room Dakota Hotel, brand-new five-star Gotham Hotel in Newcastle city centre, and recently announced Eldon Square leisure development, the region is poised to showcase an even greater offer for conference organisers.

We’re already seeing a high level of interest in conference bookings because of The Sage ICC development on Gateshead Quayside, but even our smaller, unique venues and world-class universities are continuing to attract international events in specialist fields, such as the ICES ACS at The Glasshouse later this year and the 8^th IEEE Conference on Control Technology & Applications at Northumbria University.”
